This article provided good input on a topic that is not really thought of much when starting photography. Personally, for someone who is still learning about photography learning about scale is interesting. I always focus on getting a clear photo with good colors and content. I usually do not worry if the image looks a certain way or if the viewer will think the focal point is a particular size.
It is interesting to see this writers discovery about scale and how to implement it into your own photography. He gives an example of a waterfall alone then with a person in front of it. It is completely crazy how the viewer can not see how massive the waterfall is until you have something to measure it with. That is what makes nature photography challenging and rewarding. It is way more complex than one may initially intend but when you look back at what you accomplish you will be blown away that you could make such a beautiful photo.
How long does it take to consider scale when learning about nature photography?
